Are You Vaccinated?

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year. The CDC recommends that all people over the age of 6 months receive the Flu shot to help prevent them from contracting the disease. Despite this recommendation, 17% of eligible patients received their Flu vaccine from Liberty Doctors d/b/a Charleston Adults and Geriatrics between November 2016 and December 2016. Our goal is to vaccinate all our patients who are at risk of catching the flu. If you are unsure if you have received this vaccination, please contact your provider.

Reviewing Your Medication with your Doctor

There are many medications that can have unpredictable or dangerous effects when taken together. For this reason, it is important to tell your doctor all the medications you are taking, including any over the counter drugs or herbal supplements. Between January 2017 and July 2017, 90% of patients seen at Liberty Doctors d/b/a Charleston Adults and Geriatrics had their medications reviewed with their provider. If you do not know or are uncertain if your doctor is aware of all your medications, please bring a detailed list to your next appointment.
